Happy Fall,
Well it looks like the fall weather is finally here! Brrr! Don't forget to send a light jacket with your kids to school. Sometimes it gets pretty chilly by recess time. As you all know, report cards went home last Friday. Please send the envelope back asap so we can reuse it. We are having a Harvest Party in the class on Friday afternoon. We will be making "symmetrical pumpkins" and another craft (if I can think of an easy one) as well as having treats and maybe watching The Great Pumpkin. Thank you to all of you who are sending in treats and helping during that time!
I am sending home Ticket To Read information. This is a wonderful reading program that your kids can access through the internet. I will be giving each student an ID and a password so they can use it when they like. The kids are really excited to try it!
Thanks again for all that you do to make sure your student is ready and well equiped for school. Have a great day!

What's New(sworthy)
Good Afternoon!
I hope you are all having a wonderful day!
I wanted to remind you that Scholastic book orders went home last week. We will be ordering on-line this year (how exciting!). Please check your child's backpack for information. All orders are due next Friday, 10-9-09. T-shirts should be coming in by the end of the week. I will send them home as soon as possible.
Our big word this week is RESPECT. We have talked about having respect to one another, our class, our teachers, our siblings and our parents. We will be making posters to remind ourselves in our classroom. Please feel free to talk to your student about this subject!
Grades are on-line and they are updated, please feel free to check them for the progress of your child.
Math: We are almost done with Chapter 3 in math!!! The test will be at the end of this week. We are plugging right along!
You should be getting a packet on home letters that go along with each math chapter. In it are all the answers for the rest of the chapters homework so that you can measure how your child is progressing. You can use these as a took to check the homework after it is completed.
Language: We are working on grammar hard right now... trying to understand sentence structure as well as vocabulary, parts of speech and much more! Some of this is review, some is review of a basic concept at a harder level and some of it is stuff that they have not been exposed to!
Science: We are starting some in class experiments! Who can balance longer... boys or girls... What is your guess? We will be talking about the Scientific method and why it is important.
Spelling: We are on Chapter 8 in Spelling. The students are doing an AWESOME job of studying their words. Keep up the good work!
As always I hope your day is full of laughter and wonderful new experiences!

As all of you probably know this week is conference week. I am having a great time meeting all the parents! I am very blessed to have such a nice class this year!
Friday is the due date for field trip money. Please be sure to have it in by then. The students are very excited about the fieldtrip!
This weeks spelling test is over all the words we've done so far... Oh My! There are 50 words instead of 25.

Field Trip
Today I sent home a field trip form for Kartchner Caverns. We are scheduled to go on Friday, Nov.20th with Mrs. Ronnie's class. The trip will cost $23 per student which is due on Friday, Sept. 18th. If a parent would like to be a chaperone on the trip please send in the form with that area checked. I will draw out 5 parents to go. Those five will need to have $34 handed in by Sept. 21st. Please do not send in chaperone money until I pick the "official five". The kids are very excited about the trip and so am I.
Next week is conference week. If you have not handed back your conference confirmation please hand it in as soon as possible! If you can not make it at the scheduled time please call or email me to reschedule.
One last thing... If your child doesn't feel well please keep them home. We have a lot of students coming to school not feeling well and ending up going home sick.
Thanks so much,
Hope everyone has a great week!

Howdy!
I hope everyone is having a great week. We will be having a math test Tuesday so don't forget to take a look at your math over the break. Our next chapter in math contains multiplication facts so you might want to brush up on them. (hint hint)
Conference slips went home last Friday, please get them back to me as soon as possible. Conferences run from Tues, Sept. 15 through the end of the week. If you can not make it at the scheduled time please contact me so we can work out a different time.
The school year has started out wonderfully and I know that it is both the student and the parents working together that has helped it run so smoothly. You guys are awesome, thank you so much!
No school on Monday so have a wonderful break this coming weekend!
